OEL System on Horse (manufacturer image)The VideoMed Overground Exercise Laryngoscope has been developed in response to the requirement of veterinarians to carry out dynamic upper respiratory examinations.

Current opinion is that the existing methods of endoscopy practiced in conjunction with a treadmill do not simulate conditions experienced when the horse is galloping in the field.

The VideoMed active airway endoscope shaft and retaining system have been designed to give a stable image while the horse is galloping.  Once the endoscope is correctly positioned and secured, the distal end will retain it's position throughout the examination.

  • The VideoMed System features a unique quick release mechanism for the endoscope/processor and also for the umbilicus connector.
  • Deflecting is carried out using the 4-way joystick on the control console.
  • Video is recorded on a small, light-weight computer which is carried on the horse.
  • The xenon light source has been specifically developed for use with this system thereby providing excellent visibility of required respiratory organs.
  • The endoscope and processor are fully immersible.
  • Adjustable halter enables fast, safe and precise positioning of the endoscope.
